FMG is the operating company of Munich Airport. The airport's outstanding growth performance elevated it to join the ranks of Europe's busiest passenger airports. With a total of 38 million passengers and some 410,000 flights in 2011, Munich maintained its number six ranking among Europe's top ten airports.

As a major hub for the global Star Alliance, Munich Airport is a high-performance distribution node for international and intercontinental air traffic. Travellers from all over the world value the excellent service and high quality of the passenger experience as well as the ease of making connections in Munich. This has been confirmed again and again in the annual surveys by Skytrax, the London-based international aviation research institute, in which passengers regularly vote Munich one of the world's top five passenger airports. At the European level, Munich Airport has been chosen number one on six different occasions, including 2011.

Annual traffic at Munich Airport is projected to reach 57 million passengers by 2025. Currently FMG works on plans to enhance the airport by building a third runway in the north as well as a passenger terminal satellite for additional 27 million passengers.
