Stobart Group’s proposed expansion of Southend Airport in the UK, which it bought in December (see: Stobart to buy Southend Airport), has been approved by Rochford and Southend councils.
The major expansion includes developing a new terminal, railway station and aircraft handling facilities, plus extending the runway.
It is envisaged that the airport will handle two million passengers a year.
Costs for the project have not yet been released.
