Singapore’s Changi Airport has announced plans to offer free wireless internet access at all terminals from the start of next year. Wi-fi access is currently available in terminals 1 and 2, but users must pay a fee of US$4 per half hour.
The service will be provided through the country’s Wireless@SG initiative, which provides free internet access in public places throughout Singapore, and will be available in the arrival and departure halls, airline lounges and in the food courts.
First launched in December, Wireless@SG is offered at 7,200 Wi-Fi hotspots in Singapore, but Changi was notably absent from the scheme.
In August the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) issued a tender to build and operate the network for at least five years. Deadline for bids was 12 September.
