In the past, Dallas/Fort Worth International, Texas, has partnered with Samsung for a host of technological equipment such as tall power towers to be used in the little known mezzanine area of Terminal D.
The latest collaboration is a mezzanine theatre, complete with comfy chairs and audio jacks so that travellers can hear the sound. Airport staff says it is a quiet sanctuary and there is even food available at the Reata Grill restaurant next door.
Officials say passengers generally often do not know that the mezzanine exists and retailers who do business up there need all the help they can get to draw passengers. They are hoping the disco-themed lighting above the bank of monitors will change enough and be interesting enough for passengers to notice the mezzanines even from the ground floor.
