Gatwick names Wilson James as special assistance services provider

London Gatwick Airport has appointed Wilson James as its preferred supplier of special assistance services for passengers with restricted mobility and/or hidden disabilities.

The airport, alongside its partners who include the Airline Operators Committee (AOC) and public experts on its passenger advisory group, made the decision, which will see the employees of the current service provider OCS transfer to Wilson James. No job losses are expected.

The firm secured preferred supplier status following a tender process and was chosen for its passion for service and its commitment to invest in the creation of a new and differentiating service culture for its colleagues.

Nikki Barton, head of terminals and passenger services at Gatwick, said, “Gatwick and our airport partners want to see continued improvement in the quality of the airport’s Special Assistance Services and we are confident that Wilson James can deliver this through investment in people, training and new equipment, and also by utilizing new technology.

“I would also like to recognize the hard work and effort of OCS, the incumbent provider who helped elevate our Special Assistance Services over the last seven years gaining us a “good” rating with the CAA this year. I look forward to working again with their staff as we take this to the next level and provide our passengers with the very best service possible.”

Mark Dobson, CEO at Wilson James, added, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Gatwick to provide Special Assistance Services. Combining innovations in people, processes and systems, our dedicated Wilson James team will draw upon our considerable experience within the aviation sector to deliver an exceptional service provision.”
