Argyle International Airport on target to open in 2013

The International Airport Development Company (IADC) has confirmed that work on the US$240 million (£153 million) Argyle International Airport project in St Vincents and the Grenadines is on target to reach its 2013 opening.

According to IADC, as of June 2012 72.5% of work has been completed on the airport’s runway, apron and taxiways and 23% of construction on the passenger terminal is finished.

The airport is being built on 290 acres of land and will feature a 2,743m paved runway that can accommodate Boeing 747-400s. The 145,000ft2 passenger terminal will be built over three floors and will be able to accommodate up to 1.4 million passengers per year when it opens in December 2013.
