Domodedovo Airport expands services for disabled passengers

Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport has added eight new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses and two TLD CHTP-PM 5.9 ambulift vehicles to its specialised vehicle fleet that will enable disabled passengers to travel through the airport comfortably and safely.

Registered disabled passengers can now access any kind of aircraft at the airport via the ambulift vehicles. Once they have travelled to the ground floor of the passenger terminal using the lift, the passenger can board the ambulift’s platform that extends up to 5.9m in height and access the aicraft. The new vehicle can hold up to three wheelchairs with three support staff and one stretcher.

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, which were originally used for VIP passengers, have now been commissioned to accommodate up to five wheelchairs. Two of the vans are equipped with a special electrically operated platform for driving in.

The airport also has 600 dedicated parking spaces for disabled passengers arriving at the airport in their own vehicles, all of which are free of charge. If no dedicated parking spaces are available, disabled customers are permitted to use an unmarked parking place following approval from a parking lot officer or through a feedback system of an automatic POS terminal.
