SSP to open three restaurants in Sydney Airport’s T2

Food and beverage operator SSP Group has been awarded a five-year contract to operate three new outlets in the domestic Terminal 2 (T2) at Sydney Airport in Australia.

The £32m (US$50m) contract will cover the operation of Chur Burger from Australian chef Warren Turnbull; Vietnamese-inspired street food Roll’d; and nationally renowned Asian food brand Hokka Hokka. The new outlets are scheduled to open at the end of the year. The latest deal comes on top of a £21m (US$33m) contract for SSP to open four new concepts in Terminal 1 (T1) earlier this year.

Chris Rayner, CEO of SSP Asia-Pacific, said, “We are delighted to be part of Sydney Airport’s exciting transformation. Sydney Airport’s T2 is the busiest terminal in Australia and we are thrilled that our concepts have been chosen for the highly coveted tenancies in the casual dining precinct. We are looking forward to working in partnership with an excellent portfolio of brands. This latest win has underscored SSP’s position as a major presence in Australasia.”

Glyn Williams, general manager for Sydney Airport, said, “The T2 casual dining space will be transformed in line with our vision to enhance the overall experience at Sydney Airport accommodating a greater number of travelers within a refreshed dine-in space. The exciting range of new food partners at T2 will revitalize the food and dining experience and we’re excited to create an Australian airport first by introducing Chur Burger, an exceptional quality burger brand, into T2.”
