Hamad International serves 28 million passengers in first year

Hamad International Airport has served more than 28 million passengers in its first year of operations after replacing Doha International Airport as Qatar’s main commercial hub in May 2014.

According to a report by news site The Peninsula, the airport catered for 28,047,750 passengers from June 2014 to May 2015, a 23.6% increase compared to the 22.6 million passengers served at Doha Airport for the same period the previous year.

According to the report, Badr Mohammed Al Meer, chief operating officer, Hamad International Airport, said, “We owe our accomplishments to our focus on customer satisfaction. We put the customer at the heart of everything we do.

“With this in mind, we have invested in a bespoke research program to get to know our passengers and their needs. We not only offer passenger services, we also offer an overall passenger experience.

“Our future development strategy will focus on increased capacity and additional facilities. The development of our core aviation facilities is based on forecasts of passengers, aircraft growth figures and KPIs relating to service levels, which will dictate our development plan.

“We have also created processes and management structures to manage and deliver our multi-million-dollar future investment programs strategically.”
