ADPI awarded Asian airport construction projects

ADP Ingénierie (ADPI), a subsidiary of French airport operator Aéroports de Paris (ADP), is set to expand its presence in Asia after winning a series of construction contracts for airports in China, Hong Kong and South Korea.

In Hong Kong, ADPI partnered with engineering firm Meinhardt to win tenders for the expansion of Terminal 1 (T1) and accompanying aprons at Hong Kong International Airport. The terminal expansion will increase the annual passenger capacity by 10 million travelers and the apron extension will provide additional parking space for 24 wide-bodied aircraft.

In China, ADPI was awarded design contracts for the master plan and architecture for the first terminal of the new airport in Chengdu. The new airport will have an initial annual capacity of around 40 million passengers, eventually rising to reach 90 million. This will make Chengdu one of the largest airports in southwest China. The first part of the airport is scheduled for commissioning in 2019. ADPI is currently working on the design concept in cooperation with Chinese architects CSWADI.

ADPI has also been selected by the Chinese authorities to audit future development projects at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. ADPI will validate the developments planned by the authorities, to identify and develop possible functional improvements in order to optimize airport operations and generate productivity gains.

Finally, ADPI will conduct upstream studies on two provincial airports in South Korea. The first study aims to verify the feasibility of the expansion of Jeju International Airport, and the second study, to be undertaken in partnership with the Korean Transport Institute (KOTI), will examine the feasibility study for a new airport in Youngnam, a region in the southeast of the country.
