American Airlines partners with Uber to increase convenience for travelers

American Airlines has partnered with online taxi firm Uber to allow passengers to pre-book a taxi at the time of receiving digital confirmation of their flight. Travelers flying with the airline will receive e-ticket confirmation via email, and can then click on the ‘Remind me to Uber’ icon to set a reminder for their ride.

Scott Hinshaw, director – partner marketing, American Airlines, said, “We’re excited to partner with the only global ride sharing service to offer customers exactly what they’re asking for – a seamless travel experience, whether they’re in the sky or on the ground. By working together, we can provide a service that allows customers to request their Uber ride to the airport in step with their itinerary and know where to meet their Uber driver after their flight lands.”

Jonathan DiOrio, head of travel partnerships, Uber, said, “Whether you’re trying to get home to see your family, or heading to an important business meeting across the country, your travel experience should be seamless. We’re excited to work with American Airlines to ensure passengers have a great door-to-door experience.”

Alongside the new reservation service, Uber will provide unregistered customers with a US$20 saving off their next ride when they use the promotional code RIDEAA. Customers who use their AAdvantage Aviator MasterCard as the method of payment for Uber purchases will earn two additional bonus miles for every US$1 spent until July 31, 2016. Total bonus miles will be awarded after the promotion ends.
