American Airlines to invest US$3bn in lounge and dining upgrades

Airline operator American Airlines is investing more than US$3bn in introducing its Flagship lounge and dining experience at multiple airports across the USA.

The Flagship Dining experience will provide passengers with seasonal menus curated by executive chefs with complimentary, full-service tableside dining. The experience will be introduced at John F Kennedy (JFK), Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami international airports beginning in early 2017.

In spring this year, American Airlines will also redefine its exclusive Flagship Lounge locations at JFK, LAX and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport with expanded spaces and furnishings. The airline is also planning on adding Admirals Club Lounge locations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Orlando International Airport in Florida.

Andrew Nocella, chief marketing officer, American Airlines, said, “We’re investing more than US$3bn in every aspect of the travel experience – whether that’s in our airports or in the cabins of the most modern fleet in the industry – because we want customers to choose American Airlines every time they fly. Flagship Dining is something no other US carrier has offered, and this separates us from the competition. It makes American a clear choice for the customers who expect a refined, personal touch when they fly.”

Fernand Fernandez, vice president – global marketing, America Airlines, said, “We want our customers to have a luxurious escape no matter the reason for their trip. Our goal is to deliver chef-driven creations and local flavors, giving customers a five-star restaurant experience when they travel. The only thing left to do is board the plane.”
