Analogic showcases new Checkpoint CT solution at Passenger Terminal Expo

Security technology solutions provider, Analogic, has given visitors to Passenger Terminal Expo an insight into the benefits of its next-generation screening solution for carry-on baggage. According to the company, the advanced computed tomography (CT) screening system, called Analogic Checkpoint CT, can increase passenger throughput at security checkpoints and improve traveller experience as liquids and electronics don’t have to be removed from carry-on bagagge during the screening process.

In February 2016 Analogic successfully concluded its European airport trials for the Checkpoint CT. Over a period of two years, the system was evaluated at Amsterdam Schiphol and London Luton airports. Working closely with European regulators and airport security personnel, Analogic's security and detection team was able to achieve the highest level of threat detection without removing liquids or laptops from the passengers' bags.

The system screened over one million bags during the trials. According to Analogic, the results were considered best in class by airport security experts, with extremely low false alarms and increased throughput at the checkpoint.

The Analogic Checkpoint CT solution is scheduled to be officially launched by the end of 2016. It promises to be capable of screening up to 900 items per hour. It is being designed to meet ECAC’s new C-3 detection standard and according to the company, it will be comparable in initial purchase price to current multi-view, Type C compliant x-ray systems.
