Duty free offering expanded at Denver International

Denver International Airport in Colorado, USA, has expanded its duty-free offering after opening two new Denver Duty Free stores on concourses A and B. The new outlets will increase the total floor area dedicated to duty free retail from 1,000ft² to approximately 6,000ft².

The airport has also opened a Kiehl’s cosmetics store and Urban Decay fashion offering on Concourse C, which could later become a mixture of duty free and duty paid.

The Denver Duty Free stores will be operated in partnership with Dufry North America, the Hudson Group, Odd Tale Books and Wystone’s World Teas Holdings; the stores are expected to generate a combined US$7.6m in annual gross revenues and will create 37 full-time and part-time jobs.

Bhavesh Patel, chief revenue officer, Denver International Airport, said, “Denver is a growing hub for international travel, with about 2.2 million international passengers in 2015. We specifically set out to re-imagine the duty free experience in Denver, to help elevate the travel experience for our international passengers who are increasingly seeking this type of retail opportunity. We are excited that Dufry is bringing its international portfolio of experience to the Mile High City.”

Joseph DiDomizio, president and CEO of Hudson Group, said, “As a partner with Denver airport since 2003, we are pleased to now offer all passengers a wide range of luxury brands such as Estée Lauder, Michael Kors, Dior and Chanel. We will also feature local Denver favorites such as Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and Hammond’s Chocolates.”
