Dublin Airport’s The Loop offers 3D printed candy

The Loop retail space at Dublin Airport has joined forced with Katjes Fassin UK, a company specializing in the 3D printing of gummy candy, to offer passengers the chance to see their own confectionery ‘magically’ made before their eyes.

Katjes Magic Candy Factory launched at the airport on March 17 in Terminal 1, and is the company’s first duty-free travel retail presence in Europe and also its first airport collaboration.

“We’re proud to be launching our truly delicious and ground-breaking concept with a significant player such as ARI in the global travel retail industry,” Melissa Snover, managing director of Katjes Fassin UK, told TR Business.

“We hope to open up many more airport locations as our products are easy to take with you on a plane, and as an individual souvenir for your loved ones back at home.”

Katjes Magic Candy Factory is said to be the world’s first 3D printer for gummy candy and uses technology based on fused deposition modeling. All products that come from the printer are vegan, gluten and dairy free.
