Sydney Airport CEO receives two industry awards

Kerrie Mather, CEO and managing director of Sydney Airport in Australia (center), has been presented with two prestigious industry awards including the Women’s Achievement in Infrastructure Award by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA), and the Chairman’s Award at the Aviation/Aerospace Australia (A/AA) Awards.

Mather was appointed CEO and managing director of Sydney Airport in July 2011 and has since overseen a number of improvement works at the airport including the transformation of Terminals 1 and 2. Mather is also a director on the world governing board of Airports Council International (ACI).

“Working in the infrastructure and aviation sector for the past 20 years has been both inspiring and challenging,” said Mather.

“Embracing customer expectations and needs, evolving with technological change, planning and delivering the infrastructure to support aviation growth in Australia, and the unending talent, creativity and enthusiasm of the people I work with, has made each day a pleasure.

“I feel very privileged to receive these awards and I’d like to thank Sydney Airport’s board, leadership team, staff and our many and valued government, industry, business, tourism and community partners for their ongoing commitment and support.

“I’d also like to acknowledge the fantastic advocacy work of my colleagues at both IPA and A/AA, which benefits the industry as a whole.”

Brendan Lyon, chief executive, IPA, said, “Kerrie Mather is the infrastructure sector’s ‘Woman of the Year’ because of her lifetime of outstanding service, leadership and achievement.

“As the most senior female CEO in the ASX Top 50 and head of Sydney Airport, Kerrie leads a multibillion dollar operation that contributes to the national economy, generates jobs and impacts upon Australia’s logistics, tourism, aviation and infrastructure sectors.”
