South Terminal pier opened at Paris Orly Airport

Airport operator Aeroports de Paris (ADP) has officially inaugurated the new International Pier in the South Terminal at Paris-Orly Airport in France.

The new 130,000ft² facility was delivered at a cost of €90m (US$100m) and will be dedicated to international traffic as well as long-haul flights to the French West Indies. It can accommodate up to 1.9 million passengers per year with parking for six wide-body aircraft or 12 mid-size wide-body aircraft at any given time.

Passenger facilities include a children’s play area, two modern gaming areas, two retro-gaming arcade areas, two video and multimedia areas equipped with tablets, a workspace with charging points, a piano, a landscaped open-air smoking area, and a baby lounge area.

Franck Mereyde, managing director of Paris Orly Airport, said, “The new pier at the South Terminal is the perfect illustration of the new face of the airport. We launched a vast modernization program three years ago and this is set to run until 2020.

“Our challenge is two-fold. Firstly, to support the development of our airline customers, and long-haul traffic in particular, by offering welcoming, more modern and efficient terminals capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft. Secondly, we must achieve world-class standards in terms of customer care, comfort and quality of service. We want passengers to enjoy their time in our terminals as much as possible.”
