Expansion plans unveiled for Seletar Airport in Singapore

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and operator Changi Airports Group (CAG) have unveiled their plans to construct a new terminal building on the eastern side of Seletar Airport in northeast Singapore.

The new passenger terminal will eventually replace the airport’s existing terminal, with construction scheduled to begin in October 2016 and completion set for the end of 2018. The development will provide improved facilities and amenities and will accommodate the airport’s projected growth in passenger traffic. The new terminal will also support growth at Changi Airport as all turboprop aircraft operations will be shifted to Seletar once the new facility has been completed.

Kevin Shum, director general, CAAS, said, “Seletar Airport will continue to be a valuable complement to Changi Airport. The new passenger terminal building will enhance the capacity of the airport and will strengthen Singapore’s aviation sector. The new investment will also enable more opportunities to thrive in the Seletar Aerospace Park, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a vibrant aviation hub.”

Lee Seow Hiang, CEO for CAG, said, “Seletar Airport has seen upgrades to various airside facilities in recent years. The new passenger terminal will allow us to better cater to the specific needs of the airport’s different users and provide a more seamless travel experience.”
