Contract finalized for infrastructure works at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Schiphol Group, the operator of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands, has finalized the contract for the landside infrastructure modifications to accommodate a new terminal and pier, scheduled for completion in 2023 and late 2019 respectively.

The infrastructure works will be performed by engineering consultancy Arcadis, which began initial works on the project in April 2016. The new contract includes the finalized designs for the access roads for motorway traffic; pick-up and drop-off locations for cars, group transport and public transport; foot paths; cycle paths; the configuration of the outdoor areas; and the installation and relocation of cables and pipes.

Alongside the infrastructure contract, Schiphol Group has also agreed the cost management contract for the project with independent consultancies IGG Bointon de Groot and Turner & Townsend Europe.

The two companies will provide pro-active cost recommendations relating to the total cost of ownership and will identify risks, optimization and variations for the landside, parking, pier–airside, and terminal–corridor projects.

Schiphol’s new terminal and pier developments will increase capacity at the airport by approximately 14 million passengers annually and will provide additional gates to handle large wide-bodied aircraft such as the Airbus A380.
