Common-use check-in system installed at Almaty International in Kazakhstan

Amadeus, a provider of technological solutions for the aviation sector, recently completed the installation of its Airport Common Use System (ACUS) at Almaty Interntional Airport in Kazakhstan. It will now begin the implementation of its baggage reconciliation solution (BRS), which will match passengers with their baggage to ensure efficient management of luggage at the airport.

ACUS technology hosts the check-in process in Amadeus’s data center rather than a local server room located at or near the airport. This technology removes the burden and high costs associated with the deployment of several airline departure control systems (DCS) in the airport as well as the maintenance of individual network connections. Airlines are able to upgrade systems centrally and can make updates available across the network of airports that the airline works with. Amadeus’s solution also enables airline agents to check in passengers using the client workstation or a mobile device with wi-fi, 3G or 4G connections.

Galym Yespayev, chief information officer, Almaty International Airport, said, “Amadeus’s technology will bring our check-in and baggage reconciliation processes into the modern day to meet the current and future demands and expectations of our airline customers and travelers. As one of the biggest airports in the region, it was important for us to select a partner who could deliver a truly innovative technology solution with a future-proof, flexible model to meet the operational needs of our airport today and tomorrow. We can now offer a much more advanced technological environment for our airline customers and their passengers.”

John Jarrell, Head of Airport IT at Amadeus, said, “We are pleased to partner with Almaty International Airport to take the steps to become an airport of the future. Amadeus brings new technologies to the market that disrupt existing models to benefit the whole aviation business. ACUS and Amadeus BRS allow for greater efficiency for airports and airlines, and ultimately improve the airport experience for the traveler.”
