HMSHost extends F&B contract at John Glenn Columbus International

Restaurateur HMSHost has been awarded an eight-year contract extension at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio.

The renewed deal has an estimated revenue value of US$204m and will extend the operator’s current lease term to 2027. The contract also includes the introduction of four new food and beverage (F&B) outlets in the renovated areas of concourses B and C, as well as the addition of a Starbucks café in the airport’s pre-security area.

New additions include Land-Grant Brewing Company, a local bar that aims to deliver the same beer garden and sports fan atmosphere found at its namesake in the East Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus; a Samuel Adams cider themed bar called American Craft Tavern; a PGA TOUR Grill sports bar and diner; and a second Starbucks outlet located airside.

The pre-security Starbucks store and Land-Grant Brewing Company are slated to open later this year, while the rest of the new F&B openings will occur between January 2017 and December 2018.

Elaine Roberts, president and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, the airport operator, said, “The airport authority is pleased to be collaborating with HMSHost on these exciting restaurant plans, including the addition of Land-Grant Brewing, another hometown favorite. We appreciate HMSHost’s investment and its commitment to enhance the customer experience at John Glenn International.”

Kent Vanden Oever, vice president of business development, HMSHost, said, “HMSHost values strongly our partnership with the authority and we are very excited to continue working together to serve Columbus travelers. With the restaurant changes planned we will be able to give travelers in all areas of the airport an opportunity to experience a great sense of place while they dine and visit.”
