Mövenpick to open second hotel at Stuttgart Airport

Hotel management firm Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has been granted permission to construct a second hotel at Stuttgart Airport in Germany. The new hotel will be located just 490ft from the existing building and will have convenient access to the S-Bahn local rail station and a planned Intercity-Express (ICE) airport station.

Architecture firm Mühlich, Fink & Partner will be responsible for designing the 262-room hotel along with its atrium-style lobby and 8,000ft² ballroom. Guests will also have access to a 150-seat restaurant and 100-seat bar.

Ola Ivarsson, chief operating officer Europe, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, said, “Our existing hotel opened nine years ago and is highly regarded as an excellent hotel choice in this important economic center.

“With this new project, we are proud to support all the stakeholders, not least Stinag, Stuttgart Invest and Flughafen Stuttgart, in their efforts to transform this first-class location into one of the most important hubs in Germany. The enhanced cooperation with a partner of Stinag’s calibre is an important step in the development of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Europe.”

For events and conferences, the new ballroom when combined with the conference space at the original hotel, this will create the biggest meeting and event space in southern Germany, at more than 32,000ft².
