Brisbane Airport upgrades language capabilities for passenger app

Brisbane Airport in Australia has released the latest version of its passenger app, which contains several additional features as well as new Japanese and Korean language options.

The BNE App provides passengers with instant access to helpful information about flight times, terminal maps, directions, and shopping and dining options. The new version includes social sign-in for Facebook and Google customers; a new ‘book’ section for easy booking of hotels, rental cars and parking; the addition of an ‘Add to My Trip’ function in the ‘Flights Arrivals and Departures’ section; and further information on duty free products and promotions.

Roel Hellemons, general manager strategic planning and development, Brisbane Airport Corporation, the airport operator, said, “With Brisbane and Queensland experiencing an ever growing visitors’ market from Asia, we know the new Japanese and Korean language options, in addition to simplified Chinese, will be very helpful to international travelers.

“Being able to connect with international visitors via the BNE App before they arrive at the airport can help to reduce levels of anxiety often associated with traveling to a new destination.”

Brisbane Airport’s digital departure card, built within the app, also gives passengers the ability to enter and save personal information on their mobile device prior to arrival at the airport. This information is converted into a QR code that is scanned and printed at kiosks located in the International Terminal. The personalized and custom printed card is then signed by the passenger and collected by customs officers during the normal departure process.

“Filling in data for the passenger departure card on the BNE App in advance, rather than filling it in on the cards at the airport, makes the process easier especially for international travelers where English is not their first language,” added Hellemons.
