Microsoft to move into Brussels Airport

Technology giant Microsoft has signed a lease agreement to set up new offices at Brussels Airport in the PassPort building – a new real estate project developed by CODIC. The building is currently under construction, but when completed in 2018 will offer state-of-the-art accommodation with tarmac views.

The location is described by Microsoft as its ‘Internet of Things’ office, and a central meeting place for staff, partners and customers. Other major companies leasing space in the PassPort building include KPMG, while Deloitte will open its Belgian headquarters in the Gateway building next door in 2017.

Michael Beal, general manager of Microsoft BeLux, said, “We are looking to embrace sustainability, quality of life and ecology at our new office. Moreover, our customers and partners will be able to immerse themselves in the latest developments surrounding our cloud technology, including the Internet of Things, bots, machine learning and artificial intelligence.”

Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company, added, “As Brussels Airport is a hub of various transport modes, the airport is attracting more and more leading companies such as Microsoft. The fact that they are located at the heart of the airport is very much a competitive asset for those operating in extremely dynamic industries.”
