Pikachu Parade held at Singapore’s Changi Airport

Changi Airport in Singapore has delighted Pokémon fans by hosting the country’s first Pikachu Parade. Named after the most recognizable Pokémon character, the parade took place on Friday, November 18, involving 10 life-sized dancing Pikachu, who wowed the crowds at the airport’s Terminal 3, plus a huge 7m-tall version.

There was also a light show, with music, dancing Christmas trees and an artificial snowfall, giving the event a festive theme. The crowds cheered and took photos on their smartphones as the characters marched and waved.

Special ‘Pokémon at Changi’ installations and events will remain at the airport until February 11, with the Pikachu display at the Terminal 3 departure hall. This will run alongside the current Christmas decorations, including a giant gingerbread house.

Terminal 2’s departure lounge will also feature a Snorlax Garden, named after another Pokémon creature, with three life-sized Snorlax available for photo opportunities.

For any players of the popular Pokémon Go game on their smartphones, there is a special Poké Trail, with 26 Pokémon hidden all over the airport, while Z-Moves activity kiosks offer games and on-screen face painting with a Pokémon theme. The light shows continue throughout the promotion, with Pikachu walking the terminals at various times to meet and greet travelers. For more information, click here.
