AAI opens civil aviation terminal at Bathinda Airport

ceremonyIndian airport operator Airports Authority of India (AAI) has opened a new domestic terminal known as Bathinda Airport, which acts as a civil aviation enclave within the Bhisiana Air Force Station in Punjab, India.

The domestic terminal covers approximately 12,900ft² and has been constructed at a cost of US$3.8m. It has the capacity to handle 100 passengers at any given time, split between arrivals and departures, and has been furnished with modern passenger facilities including two check-in-counters, an X-ray machine for security, a baggage reclaim conveyor for arrivals, a VIP lounge, and parking area with space for 40 vehicles.

The glass and steel terminal also includes a public address system, CCTV for surveillance, a fire fighting system, a dedicated power supply with standby diesel generators, and an outdoor canopy to protect passengers from adverse weather conditions.
