First phase of renovations complete at Nice Cote d’Azur Airport T2

Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, the operator of Nice Cote d’Azur Airport in France, has completed the first wave of renovations for Terminal 2 (T2), including the redevelopment of the security check area and a new intersecting Aélia Duty Free shop.

The renovations are intended to provide a more fluid and intuitive experience for passengers, with more than 140,000ft² of space for retail and security, an increase of nearly 90%.

The new duty-free concept covers approximately 9,000ft² and has been divided into sections stocking the latest in local and international confectionery, perfumes, cosmetics, wines, champagnes and premium spirits. The first phase also includes the opening of the renovated T2 business center.

Latter phases of the renovation will include the introduction of new retail and food and beverage concepts that will complement the extended offering recently opened in Terminal 1 (T1). When complete, the two terminals will provide a total of 68 shops and restaurants.

Dominique Thillaud, CEO of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, said, “After the complete renewal of T1 last year, the opening of this new optimized single control check area, offering even more security and fluidity, marks a new milestone in the establishment of a platform which forms part of our region’s image. We are always focused on the satisfaction of our passengers and improvement of the competitiveness that we offer to airlines, as we are the only ones in France to offer drastic reductions in fees.”

Filip Soete, director of the commercial business unit, Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, said, “In opening this new route within T2, we are able to culminate our vision ‘to offer the most remarkable experience within a European airport with an emphasis on sense of place’, and with brands such as Fragonard, L’Occitane, Lac and Gas – very much related to the Riviera – which will complement our existing offer of essential products related to travel or to France.”
