NanoLumens completes installation of 230ft LED display in Changi Airport T4

NanoLumens has completed the installation of two Performance Series LED displays in the new Terminal 4 (T4) facility at Changi Airport in Singapore. The displays will deliver high-definition digital content, created by video production service Moment Factory, 24 hours a day.

Located above T4’s centralized security screening area, the ‘Immersive Wall’ measures 70m (230ft) wide and 5m (16ft) high, with a 6mm (0.21in) pixel pitch. Additionally, NanoLumens was chosen to supply a 10m (33ft) wide and 6m (20ft) tall, 4mm (0.16in) pixel pitch display in the departure area’s Heritage Zone.

Both displays run throughout the day, with the Immersive Wall displaying flowing, geometric waves of 3D animations; picturesque scenes from throughout Singapore; and a playful animation of the imaginary journey luggage takes after check-in. The Heritage Zone display is integrated into the zone’s façade and will show Peranakan Love Story, a dramatic original film set in 1930s Singapore.

Electronics & Engineering (E&E), one of the leading electronic integrators in the Asia-Pacific region, completed the installation of the NanoLumens displays, along with several other innovative technologies in T4. The terminal is expected to open in late October.

Martin Leclerc, director of international sales, NanoLumens, said, “With roughly a year of just the bidding process, not to mention the actual installation, this was a highly complex project with many, many moving parts.

“Working with E&E was a great partnership that produced fantastic on-time results, which industry insiders know isn’t always the case with contractors, particularly on large jobs, even this specific one.

“When one considers the consistent, rigorous testing we performed to ensure our specs were accurate and lived up to Moment Factory’s requirements, it’s obvious everyone involved was focused on every detail, every step of the way.”
