Gatwick Airport and Aviation Museum collaborate on fun day

London Gatwick Airport is partnering with the Gatwick Aviation Museum for the first time to host a fun day, showcasing to the public some of the services that operate at the airport.

The Gatwick Fun day, to be held on Saturday, September 16, from 10.00am to 4.00pm BST, will include many different entertainment activities, displays and refreshments at the museum.

Alongside Gatwick’s airfield team, Sussex Police, the airport’s fire service and surface transport team, the Gatwick Greenspace Partnership, SERV Sussex, Surrey Search and Rescue and other charity partners will all be in attendance.

Melanie Wrightson, community engagement manager at London Gatwick, said, “We are proud to be partnering the Gatwick Aviation Museum to host this event for the first time, which promises to be fun for all the family and our airport teams look forward to meeting and greeting the local community. This partnership forms part of a wider program of community engagement events, which Gatwick is supporting in the local area.”

The museum, which is run as a charitable trust, hosts a unique collection of British aircraft from the end of WWII until the 1970s. All proceeds from the event will go toward restoring and maintaining the exhibits and aircraft.

John Tickner, chair of trustees at the Gatwick Aviation Museum, added, “We’re really grateful for Gatwick Airport’s support in helping to make the first Gatwick Fun day a reality, and for allowing us to showcase the best the Gatwick Aviation Museum has to offer.

“We take great pride in looking after an important source of historical aircraft and it is our goal for these to be enjoyed by generations to come.”
