Kansas City International Airport welcomed one million passengers in August

Over one million passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport (KCI) in August, representing a year-on-year rise of 7%. Passenger boarding was up 7.5%, with a total of 494,972 boarding.

The airport has processed over 7.7 million passengers so far in 2017, which is a 5.5% rise on 2016. Year-to-date boarding numbers are just shy of 3.85 million, up 5.3%.

Pat Klein, Kansas City’s director of aviation, said, “The peak summer travel period wrapped up with our fourth consecutive million-passenger month. The streak of year-over-year passenger growth at KCI has extended to an astounding 40 consecutive months.”

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for August 2017 was 174, with service offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 41,567 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day.

The all-cargo carriers reported six daily departures for August. Air cargo tonnages –which consist of both freight and mail transported by air – for all carriers at KCI were up 3.5% in August with a total of 19,000,000 lb (8,600,000kg) handled.
