Analogic to showcase ConneCT scanner at Australian Airport Association’s National Conference

Security technology provider Analogic Corporation is showcasing its ConneCT computed tomography (CT) scanning system for passenger checkpoints at the Australian Airports Association’s National Conference in Adelaide, Australia, taking place from November 13-17, 2017.

It is the first time the ConneCT system has been demonstrated in the Asia-Pacific region, following presentations in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

Analogic’s ConneCT has achieved US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) certification and has met the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) C2 standard for explosive detection systems (EDS). It was recently approved by the Australian Office of Transport Security and added to the Aviation Security Screening Equipment list.

Mark Laustra, vice president of global business development and government relations, Analogic, said, “Recently foiled terror plots in the region have highlighted the need for highly advanced security solutions that bring a new standard of threat detection to the market. The engineering team at Analogic has developed a transformative CT system for airport checkpoints that will keep the traveling public safer than ever before.”

ConneCT offers operators medical-grade 3D imaging providing a 360°-view of the bag, seeing through clutter to reveal suspect items; Digital Unpack, a technology that enables the screener to ‘digitally unpack’ a cluttered bag and isolate a particular item for closer inspection; automated threat detection; the ability to allow passengers to keep their personal electronic devices in their bags; open network architecture that will allow third-party software development to create applications that address new threats; and an airport-friendly design for easy maintenance and a long lifecycle.
