DXC Technology has been appointed as master systems integrator (MSI) for Perth Airport’s new terminal development – a new milestone in the airport’s multibillion-dollar investment program.

DXC will be responsible for the design, integration, testing and commissioning of more than 70 information technology and operational systems to support the new terminal facilities, and will ensure these work together to deliver a connected and seamless passenger experience.

The new terminal facilities, scheduled to open in 2031, will realize Perth Airport’s One Airport vision to bring all commercial airline operations into a single central location, to improve efficiency and enhance the passenger journey.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and American Airlines have opened nine new gates in Terminal C, the first gates to be added to the airport through its US$12bn DFW Forward capital improvement program.

The gates – five rebuilt and four entirely new – form part of approximately 10,700m2 of new facility space that features electronic boarding gates, expanded seating, new concessions, power stations and upgraded wayfinding. Terminal C, DFW’s busiest terminal and exclusively used by American Airlines, is being entirely rebuilt over the next several years.

The USA’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded its TSA PreCheck Touchless ID service to two more airports

The new biometric technology installed at Albuquerque International Sunport and Will Rogers International Airport enables eligible TSA PreCheck members to experience a faster, more seamless identity verification process without the need to present a physical ID or boarding pass at the security checkpoint.

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID uses advanced facial comparison technology to verify a traveler’s identity in seconds.

Airport hospitality group OTG has opened three New York dining brands at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5, as part of an ongoing commercial redevelopment of the facility.

Melt Shop, The Halal Guys and Nom Wah Tea Parlor are now open in the terminal, offering food drawn from New York City’s restaurant culture.

“Airports can often feel rushed and transactional,” said OTG CEO Matt King. “Our goal is to create dining experiences that feel authentic and memorable, offering guests the same beloved brands they would seek out across New York City.

Samsung Electronics America has partnered with Clear to launch Samsung ID with Clear, a digital ID backed by information in travelers’ US passports. Travelers will be able to verify their identity at more than 250 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints using their phones with ID in Samsung Wallet.

Passport holders from the USA can create and securely store a TSA-approved digital ID in Samsung Wallet, which integrates Clear’s secure identity platform.

On arrival, travelers verify their identities at airport security checkpoints by presenting their Samsung ID with Clear by using a simple tap or QR scan.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has approved a new round of concessions contracts spanning Terminals A, B, E and the future Terminal F, bringing a mix of North Texas brands, national quick-service names and community-focused concepts to travelers.

The approvals, made by the DFW airport board of directors, include Fort Worth-based Ampersand Coffee, Dallas-Fort Worth staples Mi Cocina and Whataburger, Fort Worth-inspired Stockyards Bar & Grill/Cowtown Supply Co., and North Texas-founded brands Cookie Society, Mama Moore’s and Audrey’s Popcorn.

St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, in partnership with VTB Bank, is launching the Migom service developed by the Biometric Technology Center. Passengers will be able to check in, enter the domestic departure lounge and board flights using biometrics.

The service launched on June 1 on Aeroflot flights between St. Petersburg and Moscow.

VTB employees will help travelers submit verified biometrics directly at Pulkovo check-in halls, a process that takes about 10 minutes.

Avolta has opened four new food and beverage outlets at Kansai International Airport (KIX). The 500m² portfolio forms part of the fourth and final phase of the Terminal 1 renovation project.

The new offer includes several firsts for Japan’s airport F&B market, according to Avolta.

Fresh is introduced to Japan for the first time, offering quick-serve food focused on fresh, convenient, health-conscious options. The menu includes Japanese-inspired pastas, salad bowls, rice burgers, sandwiches and smoothies.

After several months of rumors, the USA’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has officially launched TSA Gold+, a new public-private partnership that looks to increase private security screening at airports.

The Gold+ program has been developed in order to enable participating airports to tailor security systems for their facility and avoid the personnel shortages that recently affected airports across the USA during the government shutdown.

TSA says the initiative will pair the Screening Partnership Program (SPP) with TSA’s innovation authorities to enable cutting-edge aviation security solutions.

Vinci Airports and its joint subsidiary with ORIX, Kansai Airports, have inaugurated the expanded and fully renovated international retail area of Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport (KIX), marking the completion of a renovation project launched in 2021.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Kansai Airports concession, which began in 2016.

The new retail area forms part of an extension of the international departures zone that first opened in December 2023.
