AirAsia installs self-service bag drop terminals at Senai Airport in Malaysia

Low-cost airline AirAsia has installed its first self-service bag drop machines at Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The Scan&Fly kiosks from Type22 are set up in a two-stop process where passengers use one terminal to scan their details and print the bag tag, and another terminal to drop off their luggage. The user-friendly bag drop unit will automatically check flight data, baggage weight and size allowances before securely depositing the luggage into the baggage handling system.

Aireen Omar, CEO, AirAsia, said, “At AirAsia, we continuously work hard to make the check-in process as efficient and smooth as possible and provide a seamless travel experience for our guests.

“The average time needed to check-in at the airport counter, including queuing time is about five minutes. But with the introduction of the complete self-service options, including the latest self-service bag drop feature, it takes only two minutes and 35 seconds on average to complete the whole check-in process.”
