Costa Coffee has opened the last of its three refurbished outlets in the international arrivals area at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland. The new location has been upgraded as part of a £1.2m (US$1.8m) terminal-wide coffee improvement project.

The shop features an outdoor seating area and comfortable high backed chairs to give customers a comfortable environment to relax and unwind in, as well as numerous plug sockets equipped with USB points to enable customers to charge phones and tablets.

John Watson, the airport’s chief commercial officer, opened the new outlet on June 10. Watson said, “It’s a great pleasure to open the new Costa Coffee at our international arrivals area. It offers customers a bright and airy environment to relax in whether they’ve just come off a flight or are waiting for passengers to arrive.

“This newly-refurbished coffee shop is the final piece of our terminal-wide coffee improvement project which has seen us completely change the selection on offer, giving customers the best choice possible.

“We wanted to change the perception of the traditional airport coffee shop and have worked closely with our colleagues at Costa to design the new outlet with our customers in mind.”

Stuart Shepherd, retail development manager for Costa Edinburgh, said, “We’re delighted to continue our successful partnership with Edinburgh Airport, which has been ongoing for almost 10 years now.

“The new coffee shop we opened today is the culmination of a lot of hard work by our team here at the airport. In just three weeks we’ve doubled the size of our previous location at international arrivals and now have an 18 strong team, which takes the total number of Costa staff at the airport to over 60.

“We’ve just launched our new summer campaign and are hoping the sun stays out so our customers can enjoy our products in our outdoor seating area.”
