London City Airport has been awarded the title of ‘Best Airport in Europe under five million passengers’ by ACI Europe for the fourth year in a row.

The award, presented to the airport at the 11th annual ACI Europe awards in Prague, Czech Republic, recognized the airport’s investments in key areas to reduce passenger-waiting time in the airport; its ability to develop long-term strategic relationships with airline partners; and its commitment to environmental awareness.

Declan Collier, chief executive for London City Airport, said, “We are delighted to have received this award for a fourth consecutive year. It is a fantastic achievement that recognizes the enormous efforts that everyone at the airport has put into maintaining and delivering our customer propositions of speed, location, and customer experience.

“We have come a long way in the four years that we have been ACI’s Best Airport. Last month we enjoyed our busiest ever day welcoming 17,474 passengers, and we continue to go from strength to strength.

“We are especially pleased to see our environmental efforts recognized. We have worked extremely hard over the last year to improve our environmental impact, reducing passenger carbon emissions by 6% in 2014, and are one of only five airports in the UK to have achieved Level Two ACI Carbon Accreditation status.”

The ACI Europe Awards 2015 were judged by group of independent experts including EuroControl, the European Commission, the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the European Travel Commission (ETC) and Air Transport World.
