Security checkpoints are no longer standalone systems operating in isolation. Today’s airports are integrating screening equipment, credential authentication systems, remote screening stations, queue management tools, video systems and analytics platforms into interconnected digital ecosystems.

This interconnectivity can unlock powerful operational benefits, but it also introduces new cybersecurity considerations that must be managed deliberately.

Unlike established airports shaped over decades and constrained by surrounding development, the Polish project allows infrastructure, surface access, and operational systems to be conceived holistically from the outset. This integrated planning enables optimisation of aircraft and passenger flows while incorporating environmental and noise mitigation measures through early-stage spatial planning and land-use decisions.

The real question today is not whether to deploy common use, but how to deliver it reliably in live, high-pressure environments and how to support it once it is operational. With AeroCloud technology successfully implemented at more than 80 airports across the USA and Europe, AeroCloud has built deep experience operating in mission-critical settings. In this exclusive interview, Bogdan Ihnatiuc, VP of operations at AeroCloud, tells PT World about what airports and airlines value most from modern CUPPS, where implementations succeed or fail, and why long-term operational support is just as important as day-one delivery.

Combining high-volume passenger processing with retail, refreshments and workspaces, the airport terminal is a unique sensory experience for travelers, but not always a positive one. Most studies estimate that between 15% and 20% of the world’s population is neurodivergent – a term encompassing a multitude of conditions – and growing awareness of those passengers’ needs is increasingly influential as airports are redeveloped.
