Perth Airport‘s commercial property arm, Skyfields, has begun works on a 26 hectare greenfield site earmarked for retail, lifestyle, and entertainment use, marking its largest investment phase in almost three decades.

The site, known as Dunreath Green, fronts Dunreath Drive and Tonkin Highway and represents the first major land expansion at the airport estate since the 1990s. It sits roughly 15 minutes from Perth’s central business district, next to an existing retail precinct that includes Costco and DFO, and draws an estimated four million visitors a year.

ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, a subsidiary of Vinci Airports, submitted the Engineering, Cost and Construction Report for the new Lisbon Luís de Camões Airport to Portugal’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing on July 16, marking a key milestone in the project.

The report consolidates the results of preliminary design studies, covering the airport’s functional program, operational capacity, multimodal connectivity and long-term structural solutions. By the end of July, the final Environmental Impact Assessment will be submitted to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and the government, in line with the schedule set out in the concession agreement.

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) will temporarily close its longest commercial runway this summer as part of a major rehabilitation project. Construction on Runway 10-28 is scheduled to begin July 22 and continue until October 8.

The project includes milling and paving the runway along with an upgrade to its electrical system to install modern LED runway lighting. Runway 10-28 is one of two commercial runways at the airport and, at 3,200m, the longest.

Queenstown Airport has begun the construction of a new heavy taxiway as part of a NZ$65m (US$38m) airfield upgrade, marking the largest infrastructure investment program in the airport’s history.

Associate Minister of Transport and Minister for the South Island James Meager, Southland MP Joseph Mooney, Queenstown Lakes District Mayor John Glover and mana whenua representatives joined Queenstown Airport chair Simon Flood and chief executive Shane O’Hare, alongside project partners, at a ceremony marking the start of construction.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has awarded Nakano Singapore a contract to construct a new six-story office development integrated with a revamped coach stand at Terminal 3.

Located on the landside of Terminal 3, the building will be Changi Airport’s first standalone office block, providing purpose-built workspace for airlines, airport partners and other businesses seeking proximity to the airport. It will offer approximately 9,600m2 of office space across five levels, with a dedicated drop-off bay and lift lobby.

Perth Airport recorded its busiest year on record in FY26, welcoming 18,387,992 passengers, an increase of 5.2% on the previous year.

International travel led the growth, rising 8.1% to 5.55 million passengers; regional passenger numbers increased 6.0% to 6.6 million; and interstate passengers grew 1.9% to 6.22 million.

Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters said the result reflected strong demand for air travel and the work of airport staff.

“While much of the public focus has been on our plans for the future, our teams have been working hard to support record numbers of Western Australians travelling through Perth Airport safely, securely and efficiently,” Waters said.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has completed construction of its first satellite gate, a standalone remote boarding and disembarkation facility designed to improve the passenger experience for flights assigned to remote aircraft parking stands. Use of the gate for selected flights is set to begin by August 2026, with operational readiness preparations currently underway.

Located in the airfield, the satellite gate is equipped with two aerobridges, offering a fully sheltered, all-weather walkway for boarding and disembarkation.

Vinci Airports, the Ille-et-Vilaine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and SEALAR have been chosen by the Brittany regional council to manage and develop Rennes and Dinard Bretagne airports, following a competitive bidding process lasting almost two years.

The selection paves the way for a new concession focused on modernizing Brittany’s airport public service, built around four priorities: strengthening national and international connectivity, modernizing airport infrastructure and service quality, accelerating decarbonization of platform activities, and achieving financial autonomy for the operation.

Israel’s Airports Authority has issued a public tender to expand Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport, advancing a major capacity expansion project at the country’s main international gateway.

The project includes a new eastern passenger terminal of approximately 50,000m2, along with a 20,000m2, two-level underground facility for baggage handling and security screening. It is described as one of the largest upgrades in the airport’s recent history.

The passenger terminal will include expanded halls, airline check-in areas, restaurants, offices and commercial space, aimed at improving capacity and the traveler experience.
