Changi Airport Group (CAG) has completed construction of its first satellite gate, a standalone remote boarding and disembarkation facility designed to improve the passenger experience for flights assigned to remote aircraft parking stands. Use of the gate for selected flights is set to begin by August 2026, with operational readiness preparations currently underway.

Located in the airfield, the satellite gate is equipped with two aerobridges, offering a fully sheltered, all-weather walkway for boarding and disembarkation.

Perth Airport has unveiled a refreshed T1 International retail and hospitality precinct, timed ahead of the winter school holiday period, when international travel volumes are expected to reach over 50,000 travelers on peak days.

The refresh has introduced 14 new and revitalized outlets across the terminal, expanding the mix of dining, shopping, local produce, travel essentials and premium experiences available to passengers. The project brought together global retail operators and local brands, with partners including Avolta, Lagardère AWPL, Delaware North, SSP, WHSmith and Smarte Carte.

Israel’s Airports Authority has issued a public tender to expand Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport, advancing a major capacity expansion project at the country’s main international gateway.

The project includes a new eastern passenger terminal of approximately 50,000m2, along with a 20,000m2, two-level underground facility for baggage handling and security screening. It is described as one of the largest upgrades in the airport’s recent history.

The passenger terminal will include expanded halls, airline check-in areas, restaurants, offices and commercial space, aimed at improving capacity and the traveler experience.

The second and final phase of the Portland International Airport (PDX) main terminal expansion has been completed. Designed by ZGF for the Port of Portland, the 90,000m2 project is the largest public infrastructure project delivered in Oregon’s history, the project partners said, completing a decade-long redevelopment of the terminal.

Since the first phase opened in 2024, the terminal has received several international honors, including the Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airport award, Fast Company’s Best Design in North America distinction, and recognition from the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Nigeria is undergoing a comprehensive terminal remodeling, according to a recent announcement from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The project includes structural reinforcement, smart passenger-processing systems, modern baggage handling technology, upgraded security architecture, improved aprons, redesigned passenger flow systems, expanded access roads and new surveillance infrastructure. It is being executed while flight operations continue.

FAAN said MMIA will introduce electronic gates, biometric processing, upgraded screening systems and updated security infrastructure.

DXC Technology has been appointed as master systems integrator (MSI) for Perth Airport’s new terminal development – a new milestone in the airport’s multibillion-dollar investment program.

DXC will be responsible for the design, integration, testing and commissioning of more than 70 information technology and operational systems to support the new terminal facilities, and will ensure these work together to deliver a connected and seamless passenger experience.

The new terminal facilities, scheduled to open in 2031, will realize Perth Airport’s One Airport vision to bring all commercial airline operations into a single central location, to improve efficiency and enhance the passenger journey.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and American Airlines have opened nine new gates in Terminal C, the first gates to be added to the airport through its US$12bn DFW Forward capital improvement program.

The gates – five rebuilt and four entirely new – form part of approximately 10,700m2 of new facility space that features electronic boarding gates, expanded seating, new concessions, power stations and upgraded wayfinding. Terminal C, DFW’s busiest terminal and exclusively used by American Airlines, is being entirely rebuilt over the next several years.

Vinci Airports and its joint subsidiary with ORIX, Kansai Airports, have inaugurated the expanded and fully renovated international retail area of Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport (KIX), marking the completion of a renovation project launched in 2021.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Kansai Airports concession, which began in 2016.

The new retail area forms part of an extension of the international departures zone that first opened in December 2023.

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has commenced passenger departures operations at its new, expanded Terminal 2 (T2), with Hong Kong Airlines becoming the first carrier to relocate its check-in counters from Terminal 1 (T1).

T2’s first day of operation on May 27 saw 36 flights scheduled to depart from around 8:00am. The remaining 14 airlines will relocate their check-in services in batches by June 10.

Vinci Airports and the Haute-Savoie Council have officially inaugurated a new terminal at Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc airport, marking a significant milestone in the facility’s ongoing modernization.

The ceremony, held on May 26, was attended by local elected officials and stakeholders. The terminal represents a combined investment of €2.5m (US$2.9m), co-financed by Vinci Airports and the Haute-Savoie Council – the airport’s manager and owner respectively – and was completed following 18 months of construction carried out between July 2024 and January 2026.
