Denver International Airport (DEN) and Southwest Airlines have launched a new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck Touchless ID Bag Drop option.

To use the bag drop, Southwest passengers aged 18 or over flying out of DEN must be current TSA PreCheck travelers, have valid passport information uploaded to their Southwest profile and have opted in to the program and provided all relevant information in the Southwest app.

To enter the dedicated TSA PreCheck Touchless ID Bag Drop area, the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator must appear on a passenger’s mobile boarding pass.

Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport has selected Alstef Group to supply a new centralized baggage handling system as part of a wider infrastructure transformation program.

The system will be installed in a new Central Building located between Halls A and B, which will  support the airport’s long-term development and improve operational efficiency. The project forms part of the airport’s strategy to modernize infrastructure and accommodate future traffic growth while meeting evolving regulatory requirements.

Bordeaux Airport handled 5.9 million passengers in 2025, serving 92 destinations across 30 countries with 26 airlines.

Munich Airport has opened a new inclusive security checkpoint in Terminal 2, designed to improve accessibility and comfort for passengers with special needs and families traveling with young children.

According to the airport, the facility is the first inclusive security checkpoint of its kind in Germany.

The new checkpoint is fully barrier-free and designed to support passengers with reduced mobility. Instead of using an automated boarding pass reader, travelers are greeted by staff who guide them through the process and adapt the pace of the screening procedure to individual needs.

Travelers will now be able to securely share their bag’s location with airline teams via Find Hub, providing airlines with real-time visibility to resolve delays faster, reduce losses and improve the passenger experience.

The move changes how airlines approach a delayed bag by adding an additional source of location information to support resolving the delay.

Sunshine Coast Airport has opened a new outbound baggage facility as part of its A$170m (US$110m) terminal transformation program.

The airport said the facility will increase checked baggage handling capacity to support rising passenger numbers and meet updated security requirements. It marks the completion of the first stage of the wider redevelopment, with additional terminal upgrades scheduled over the next 18 months.

Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills said the project is a key investment in future growth.

Incheon International Airport Corporation has launched an automated international remote baggage screening system (IRBS), enabling cross-border aviation security and passenger processing between South Korea and the USA.

Under the new IRBS model, the checked baggage of passengers departing from or connecting through Incheon International Airport (IIA) Terminal 2 is screened remotely by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) before landing in the USA. Once cleared, baggage is transferred directly to its destination, eliminating the traditional reclaim-and-recheck process at the first US arrival airport.

Changi Airport has begun live airside operations of fully driverless autonomous tractors, following nearly a year of trials involving more than 5,000 test trips.

Two autonomous tractors are now operating between the baggage handling areas at Terminal 1 and Terminal 4, transporting passenger bags without onboard drivers. The vehicles are equipped with more than 10 sensors and cameras, enabling them to navigate the airside environment in all weather conditions, including at night and in the rain.

Brisbane Airport has opened a new entryway into its Domestic Terminal, giving passengers who only have carry-on luggage access from the Skywalk into the new central security screening area.

The new central screening level – spanning 1,250m² – is set to open by Christmas, and will feature 10 new security lanes equipped with Rapiscan CT screening technology, also known as Standard 3.

The new technology is said to deliver a more secure screening process, allowing passengers to keep laptops, secured drink bottles and aerosols inside bags for a smoother passenger experience.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport began on December 4 the tendering process to select three ground handling companies for the baggage process and work done around the aircraft, such as loading and unloading baggage, placing chocks under aircraft wheels and connecting power units. Currently, six parties carry out these activities.

The number of handling companies is being reduced to offer “opportunities for smarter and more efficient organisation”. Ground handling companies will make joint use of handling equipment, creating additional space on the apron and a more sustainable use of resources.

Leidos has announced a new partnership with x-ray diffraction imaging (XRDI) and detection technology provider Quadridox to develop advanced checked baggage screening technology aimed at increasing security while keeping luggage moving quickly during the screening process.

The new agreement combines Leidos’s Examiner 3DX CT with Quadridox’s Delphi XRDI technology to provide airports with deeper insights into potential threats and better position them to keep pace with evolving regulatory requirements.

“Separately, these technologies provide high levels of threat detection,” said Nik Karnik, vice president and global security products division manager within Leidos’s commercial and international sector.
