Air India has announced that it will operate out of John F Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6 (JFK T6) from 2028.

Other airlines that have announced movements to T6 include Star Alliance members Air Canada, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, and TAP Air Portugal – in addition to Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, Condor, JetBlue, Kuwait Airways, Icelandair, and Norse Atlantic.

Air India’s existing codeshare on interline partnerships with many of these carriers will offer passengers seamless connections from the same terminal to onward destinations across the Americas.

Brisbane Airport’s new plane-spotting destination, Fellowship Place, opened to the public on Sunday, July 19, marking the airport’s centenary.

The purpose-built site offers an elevated viewing platform with less obstructed views of aircraft arrivals and departures, along with shaded seating and an accessible pathway. To create the space, the site was reclassified from restricted airfield land into publicly accessible land.

At the center of Fellowship Place is the tail of a retired Fokker F28 Fellowship aircraft, donated by Aviation Australia, which had used the jet to train more than 3,000 aircraft engineers.

JFK Millennium Partners, the operator of John F Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6, have announced two service partnerships to enhance the passenger experience. ABM and Ethos Farm Americas will deliver individualized guest services, and Unifi will provide passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) services.

The scope of ABM and Ethos Farm Americas services also includes the training, staffing and operational day-to-day leadership in guest experience operations.

The UK government is taking steps to make traveling with children easier. Children aged 8 and over can now use e-gates if they are traveling with an adult and are at least 120cm tall (3ft 11in).

The Home Office estimates that 1.5 million more children will be eligible to use the gates with their families over the next year.

There are more than 290 e-gates at UK airports and ports, plus juxtaposed ports (where UK border checks take place in Europe).

The final piece of a sweeping transformation of public art at Pittsburgh International Airport has been installed, marking a defining moment in the new terminal’s Art in the Airport program.

Open Columns by artist Patrick Marold comprises three steel columns now installed between the Terminal Garage and the new terminal. Each column ranges between 20ft and 40ft tall. People can enter the columns and look toward the sky, viewing the interplay between reflective bands that dissolve into the atmosphere.

Synect, K2 Security Screening Group and Faith Group have partnered with the USA’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to improve the passenger experience and ease congestion at security checkpoints at 12 major airports.

With the airports seeing increased traffic for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and July 4 holiday, dynamic digital displays have been at the checkpoints, providing real-time flight instructions for travelers as well as custom digital content celebrating the USA’s 250th anniversary and other major events.

Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) has opened an imaginative, interactive play space as part of the airport’s new concourse expansion. Created in partnership with The Scott Family Amazeum, ‘Wonder Wing’ brings the Amazeum’s hands-on, interactive learning experience into the airport and gives young travelers a place to play, explore and connect with aviation while they wait for their flights.

The play area includes several aviation-themed features designed specifically for children, including a child-size air traffic control tower, a live feed to the real airport tower radio, and real airplane parts incorporated into the space.

As it approaches its 40th year in 2027, London City Airport has announced that it will open its first luxury pre-flight hospitality experience, in partnership with Swissport International‘s airport hospitality brand, Aspire Pre‑Flight Hospitality. 

The bespoke lounge, which is unaffiliated with any airline, will be accessible to all passengers traveling through London City Airport, via online or walk-in purchase and, in time, through an annual membership.

The announcement comes at a historic time for London City Airport as it moves ahead with its ambitious growth plans to reach passenger numbers of nine million a year.

From June 23, baggage checked at Incheon International Airport will be automatically transferred to the final destination for passengers traveling to Los Angeles and Seattle-Tacoma international airports, cutting transfer times by 20 minutes.

The service is launching with Korean Air and Delta Air Lines. The Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) expects participation to expand gradually.

Building on cooperation with the USA’s Department of Homeland Security established last year, MOLIT commenced its International Remote Baggage Screening (IRBS) system to Los Angeles and Seattle airports on June 23.

Genève Aéroport has partnered with travel technology specialist Smartvel to implement Explore&Go, a passenger engagement platform designed to improve the online experience for customers.

The partnership will see Genève Aéroport integrate Explore&Go’s destination content, route discovery tools and live pricing capabilities across its digital ecosystem, enabling passengers to search destinations, explore available routes and access real-time fare information directly from the airport’s platforms.

The move responds to a growing trend among airports to evolve beyond traditional infrastructure roles and become more active participants in the digital travel journey.
