IIR Conference
28/05/2008 to 29/05/2008
CUSS and CUTE At the IIR Conference "Airport IT", on 28 and 29 May 2008 in Berlin, international industry representatives will discuss how international airports can reduce costs and increase productivity by efficiently implementing terminal processes. T. P.
Anantheswaran, IT Director of Mumbai International Airport, will discuss the integration of airport management systems using Unified Communications (UC). In addition to UC implementation, he will also cover UC integration through CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment) and CUSS (Common Use Self- Service). Vienna Airport has been able to substantially improve services for passengers by integrating CUSS. In her lecture, Hedi Weihsinger from Vienna Airport will speak about the various ways in which self-check-in models are being developed. For instance, Internet check-in and automatic baggage check-in (CUDOP - Common Use Baggage Drop-Off) are already conceivable options. Berlin Click here to visit the event website
The Energy/Air Service Summit
10/07/2008
The escalating cost of fuel is sending shockwaves through the aviation community.
Already, American, United and Continental are detailing their plans to reduce capacity and frequencies and add service charges, while mothballing portions of their fleets. Airports are faced with making decisions about their strategic responses to this rapidly evolving crisis.
If carriers in 2009 operate 20 percent fewer seats than in 2008 — as some analysts suggest — this would be the equivalent of shutting down a carrier the size of American, USA Today has reported. “There would be fewer daily flights in cities of all sizes, fuller planes throughout the day and much more inconvenience,” the publication forecast May 22.
To mobilize the aviation community and government agencies, the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the South Central Chapter/AAAE, the Air Transport Association, International Air Transport Association, Airports Council International-North America, the Regional Airline Association, the National Business Aviation Association, the Air Line Pilots Association, the National Air Carrier Association, the Cargo Airline Association and other leading aviation organizations will convene a top-level summit Thursday, July 10, in Washington, D.C. The Energy/Air Service Summit will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:45 p.m. The summit will take place at the Embassy Suites Washington, D.C. - Convention Center, 900 10th St. NW, Washington, D.C.
The one-day summit will assemble senior airline and airport representatives, labor officials, general aviation executives, leaders from Congress, DOT/FAA and the energy sector, as well as financial analysts to explore approaches to cope with the crisis.
The summit is aimed at top management in airports and airlines, federal agencies, the financial and energy communities and community leaders involved in air transportation. Join this industry summit to confront the issues that threaten the viability of our transportation system. Embassy Suites Washington, D.C. Click here to visit the event website
Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference
25/08/2008 to 26/08/2008

The conference will also feature airport managers sharing real-world results, lessons learned, success stories and reasons why they have chosen ITS products and services as their airport land side management solution.
Airport land side management has increasingly become a focus for airport managers and transportation management center managers alike. More and more, airport managers are turning to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to provide solutions to the challenges they face, such as managing parking, commercial vehicle movement, incident management, security and much more. The International Institute for Information Design
04/09/2008 to 05/09/2008
The International Institute for Information Design (IIID) is organizing a top-notch event this year in connection with public transportation entitled "*Infoconnectivity* - Intertwined information for interconnected transport networks". The idea behind this expert forum: The effectiveness of public transport often depends on how long it takes to change between different modes of transport -- the quicker and the more efficient, the better for passengers, tourists or staff, in short: everyone. Down-time should be reduced to an absolute minimum. However, if this so-called "inter-connectivity" between transport networks is to be enhanced, it is vital to focus on measures of improving information-connectivity (infoconnectivity) between service providers in the area of public transport. The 1st China Airport Retail Expo 2008
27/11/2008 to 29/11/2008
The event will be hosted by China Civil Airport Association (CCAA) representing 96 member airports and is being organized by Global Integrated Solutions (GIS). GIS was the organizer of the recent China Airport Retail Summit held in Beijing on 20-22 November. The follow-up has been developed into an expo and will be held at the ShanghaiMart Exhibition Centre.
From 2002 to 2006, the growth rate of service income at Chinese airports averaged 4.4%, far below the 18% growth rate of passenger throughput. In comparison to airports in Europe, Australia and the rest of Asia, China’s airports have much growth potential for increasing their retail revenue and maximising both customer satisfaction and airport gains.
The organisers, Global Integrated Solutions, say the inaugural trade show will be 'a unique platform created to promote networking and business opportunities between China’s airports and major duty free/duty paid concessionaires, F&B concessionaires, trading companies, retailers and major brands that have a vested interest in promoting development in China’s airport retail sector.'
GIS adds that the expo will bring together more than 2,000 international and regional representatives of the duty free, travel retail, and luxury goods industry and will provide a unique opportunity to meet potential partners.
