Organised by the Italian Trade Agency together with Air Tech Italy and OICE Italy, a dedicated showcase during PTE World 2026 (17–19 March, 2026) at Excel London will help to highlight the country’s expertise in integrated airport innovation.
The participation of nine Italian companies at this edition has been organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), in cooperation with Air Tech Italy, the Italian association representing companies specialised in airport technologies, systems and services; and OICE, the association representing Italian engineering, architecture and technical-economic consultancy organisations.
The coordinated presence will highlight Italy’s integrated approach to airport development, combining planning, engineering and advanced technologies across the entire airport ecosystem.
During PTE World 2026, the Italian delegation will present technologies and services designed to enhance passenger experience, accelerate airport digitalisation and support fully integrated airport operations – from planning and certification to passenger processing, security and terminal comfort.
A distinguishing feature of the Italian approach is system integration. Rather than promoting standalone products, participating companies will demonstrate coordinated, interoperable solutions capable of supporting end-to-end operational models. This integrated framework enables airports to introduce passenger-focused solutions more efficiently and with greater operational consistency.
An ecosystem-based model
As global passenger demand continues to grow, airports face increasing pressure to expand capacity while simultaneously improving operational efficiency and service quality. Industry analysis shows that capacity growth is increasingly achieved through performance optimisation and improved passenger processing rather than physical expansion.
The Italian delegation will show how coordinated technologies and interoperable systems can contribute to operational resilience, safety, and enhanced service standards. Particular emphasis will be placed on automation, digitalisation and biometric-enabled passenger flows, reflecting the growing acceptance of such technologies among travellers when they clearly improve efficiency and convenience.
Airports operate as complex ecosystems in which planning, airside operations, passenger processing, security screening, accessibility services and terminal management are interconnected. The Italian model presented during PTE will emphasise collaboration between complementary providers to ensure that these functions operate cohesively rather than independently.
Within the Air Tech Italy network, expertise spans ground handling, PRM services, security screening technologies, wayfinding systems and biometric identification solutions. This collaborative structure enables airports to implement scalable solutions that increase capacity and safety while enhancing passenger satisfaction, without requiring proportional infrastructure expansion.
Among the participating companies at PTE World 2026 are internationally recognised industry leaders such as Leonardo, Gilardoni and Datalogic, whose technologies are deployed worldwide across aviation and security sectors.
Italy presents integrated airport innovation at PTE World 2026
The Italian delegation will be located in Hall N8–N23, Stand C280/1, with partner companies also present throughout the exhibition. Visitors are invited to meet the delegation to obtain an overview of the participating companies and their integrated airport solutions.
A networking reception will take place at the Italian Pavilion on the opening day of the exhibition, 17 March, at 16:00. The event will feature canapés and drinks and will provide an opportunity for informal exchange with representatives of the Italian Trade Agency, Air Tech Italy, OICE and participating companies. All visitors are warmly invited to attend.
