Menzies Aviation has expanded its operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to include passenger services, making it a full-suite ground handling provider at the Malaysian airport.
The move follows the award of a ground handling license to Menzies Aviation Malaysia in November 2024 and the launch of ramp operations in January 2025.
For the new passenger services offering, the company selected employees from its existing ramp operation and upskilled them to work above the wing. In August 2026, the cross-trained team handled passenger and ramp services for Ascend Airways‘ proving flight, a milestone in the airline’s Passenger/Commercial Air Operator Certificate (AOC) approval process, according to Menzies.
KUL handled 63.3 million passengers in 2025 and ranked as the 20th busiest airport in the world, up from 57 million passengers and 26th place in 2024, the company said.
Darren Masters, EVP Oceania and Southeast Asia at Menzies Aviation, said, “In less than two years we’ve established a strong operational foundation at KUL by successfully launching ramp services and evolving into a full-suite ground handling provider at one of Southeast Asia’s most important aviation hubs.
“We have built a strong team, upskilled our existing workforce and shown we can deliver under live operating conditions. Combining local capability with Menzies’ global standards and experience means we can offer airline customers at KUL high-quality, integrated ground handling solutions from arrival to departure.”
Menzies said 58% of its ground support equipment fleet at KUL is electric-powered, complemented by lower-emission fuels including B20 biodiesel. The business also supports local community organizations, including Ahsana Charity House and The Lost Food Project.
