A fully interactive AI hologram designed for guest service and wayfinding has launched in LaGuardia Terminal B.

LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), the manager and developer of Terminal B, said that although other airports have used holograms for entertainment or static welcome messages, its interactive Guest Experience Ambassador Hologram is the first of its kind in the industry.

Powered by Proto, a hologram hardware platform, and Holomedia’s AI Concierge Wayfinder application, Bridget offers a human-centered approach to digital assistance.

ABM has been awarded the passenger reduced mobility (PRM) services contract at Glasgow Airport and retained its existing agreement at Aberdeen International Airport.

Both contracts, secured with AGS Airports, are valued at multiple millions of pounds and will run for an initial three-year term, with the option to extend for a further two years.

From April, around 150 ABM staff will deliver assisted travel services across the two airports, supporting passengers with reduced mobility.

The New Terminal One at JFK International Airport has appointed Wilson James as its partner to deliver passenger assistance services.

Under the agreement, Wilson James will design and operate a program supporting passengers requiring assistance (PRA) at the new all-international terminal, which is scheduled to open later in 2026.

The company will manage assistance requests, operate designated spaces including lounges and a sensory room, and coordinate with airlines, ground handlers and other stakeholders to support passengers with physical, sensory, neurological or cognitive needs.

Munich Airport has opened a new inclusive security checkpoint in Terminal 2, designed to improve accessibility and comfort for passengers with special needs and families traveling with young children.

According to the airport, the facility is the first inclusive security checkpoint of its kind in Germany.

The new checkpoint is fully barrier-free and designed to support passengers with reduced mobility. Instead of using an automated boarding pass reader, travelers are greeted by staff who guide them through the process and adapt the pace of the screening procedure to individual needs.

The companies say that their partnership will bring together people-centered service and technology-enabled support to enhance the passenger experience for the one million people with access needs who pass through the airport each year.

With a team of more than 16,000, ABM will deliver accessible travel services across Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.

UK-based aircraft boarding ramp manufacturer Aviramp has supplied a new solar-powered ramp to Ireland West Airport, marking a recent deal in the Republic of Ireland that the company says could lead to further projects in the country.

The all-weather, step-free boarding ramp has been introduced at the airport in Knock and is already in use for passenger boarding and disembarkation. Aviramp said the ramp is designed to provide an alternative to stairs and ambulifts, particularly for passengers with reduced mobility.

Frankfurt Airport has begun testing Auracast broadcast audio at two gates, allowing passengers to receive gate announcements directly on their hearing aids, earbuds and smartphones. The airport said it is the first in the world to trial the Bluetooth-based technology for public announcements.

The system has been installed at gates A16 and A17 in Terminal 1. For two months, project partners will gather feedback from passengers and staff to assess the impact on accessibility, comfort and the overall passenger experience.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has approved Waymo to begin delivering a fully autonomous taxi service for passenger trips to and from the airport from January 29, marking the final phase of a pilot program that began in September 2025.

The approval allows autonomous vehicles begin carrying select passengers, following testing designed to ensure the safety of autonomous operations on SFO roadways. Passenger pickups and drop-offs will take place at the Rental Car Center Level 1 curbside, which is accessible via the AirTrain people mover.
