Airport operator Aéroports de Paris (ADP) and construction firm Bouygues Bâtiment International have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hassan Rohani, President of Iran, for the redevelopment of Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran.

The MoU was signed during President Rohani’s visit to France on January 28, 2016. It entitles ADP and Bouygues Bâtiment to three months of exclusive negotiations regarding the redevelopment project, which will include the renovation of the existing terminal and also the design, construction and operation of new terminals at the airport.

The project will raise the annual capacity of Imam Khomeini Airport from 6.5 million to 34 million passengers by 2020.
