New Civil Engineer magazine is running an Innovation Gateway competition and is calling for entrants.

The competition, which is supported by the British Aviation Group (BAG), is calling for SMEs or startups with a bold innovation or product that will help airports and their infrastructure to be more sustainable. New Civil Engineer and BAG are looking for tech solutions, visionary ideas or innovative ways of working that will help drive more sustainable airport performances.

Ideas should focus on: design and technology of a project; execution and delivery of a construction project; sustainable maintenance and/or expansion; improving efficiency of existing infrastructure and assets; airport operations; and socioeconomic and environmental issues.

“This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the airport industry’s drive to improve sustainability and meet the [UK] government targets to become carbon net zero by 2050,” said New Civil Engineer editor Claire Smith. “Many SMEs are agile enough to develop and deliver innovative solutions but rarely have a route to present these to the major players – this competition creates that potential.”

The closing date for the competition is February 28, 2020. Further information can be found here.
