HMSHost to open five local dining options at Sea-Tac airport

Dan SymondsBy Dan SymondsFebruary 20, 20182 Mins Read

Global restaurateur HMSHost has been awarded a 10-year contract valued at US$236m to bring five new dining options to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) in Washington State. The new additions will showcase some of the best brands and entrepreneurial chefs that Seattle has to offer.

Stephen Douglas, vice president of business development, HMSHost, said, “HMSHost is thrilled to partner with Seattle small businesses to bring their local flavors into the airport and further bolster their presence to the thousands of world travelers that use Sea-Tac airport on a daily basis.

“We are honored to continue our partnership with the Port of Seattle to enhance the traveler dining experience with an assortment of local dining options for many years to come.”

Led by chef Monica Dimas, Seattle favorite Sunset Fried Chicken will be located in Concourse D and will provide weary travelers with Southern-inspired Northwest comfort cuisine. The same sandwiches that have made a name at Sunset Fried Chicken on Capitol Hill also grace the menu at Sea-Tac airport, most notably The OG sandwich featuring fried chicken, dill pickles, tangy cabbage slaw, and mayonnaise on a toasted bun. The airport location will also feature a rotation of seasonal handcrafted ginger beers from Rachel’s Ginger Beer for travelers to enjoy.

HMSHost will also bring two Skillet restaurants to Sea-Tac Airport, one in Concourse C and another in the North Satellite. Hometown brand Skillet has redefined and elevated street food from its original vintage Airstream food truck to its three brick and mortar restaurant locations throughout Seattle.

Skillet brings iconic Pacific Northwest landscape and dynamic local flavors to a menu that is easily portable for travelers. This includes cinnamon rolls, the award-winning kale Caesar salad, decadent mac and cheese, and various vegetarian offerings.

Seattle Beer Union in Concourse A will offer travelers a taste of the Pacific Northwest’s beer scene, as well as local spirits and wine. The location will feature multiple Seattle breweries on tap and an extensive wine list from the region’s renowned wineries. To complement its numerous beverage offerings, travelers can also feast on a menu crafted by acclaimed Seattle chef Jason Stoneburner.

A new Starbucks store location will also debut at baggage collection offering arriving Seattle travelers their favorite coffee and snacks. The new food and beverage locations are expected to begin opening in 2019.
