Self-service bag-drop developer ICM Airport Technics has completed the installation of eight Auto Bag Drop (ABD) units at the newly opened recreation facility Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore.

The units can be found at the early check-in airport facilities within Jewel. ICM’s ABD units give travelers the option of checking in and depositing their luggage before arriving at their designated terminal, providing them with more time to relax and shop in Jewel prior to their flight.

ICM’s ABDs have been progressively rolled out across Changi Airport’s terminals over the past two years. This final set of eight units at Jewel brings the total deployment to 150 ABDs.

Richard Dinkelmann, CEO of ICM Group, said, “We are very proud to have successfully completed this project – the largest deployment to date of unassisted self-service bag-drop technology anywhere in the world. Our Series 7 Hybrid solution provides airlines with increased flexibility in their operations, as they can be operated either in self-service or conventional agent mode. We are honored to supply our world-class self-service bag-drop technology to the world’s best airport and look forward to continued collaboration with Changi Airport.”

ICM’s ABD units can also be found in other major airports across the globe including London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseilles Provence, Munich, Shanghai Hongqiao International and Sydney, among others.
