Warsaw Chopin Airport in Poland has agreed a deal with Bank Pekao to finance improvement works to the tune of €145m (US$165m). The projects include terminal modernization works, improved road access and the construction of a five-star hotel.

Michał Kaczmarzyk, director of Warsaw Chopin Airport, said, “Passenger numbers in Warsaw have been growing every year. In 2014 we served 10.5 million people, and in 2015 we expect to serve about a million more.

“In order to maintain the highest standards of service for both passengers and airlines in spite of growing intensity of usage, we want to invest in developing infrastructure.

The modernized terminal will be open for passenger use this June. The completion of this investment will maximize the capacity of the entire airport.”

When completed, Chopin Airport will be able to cater for 22 million passengers a year. The five-star Renaissance Hotel is expected to have 225 rooms as well as several conference rooms, a restaurant, a fitness center and a swimming pool. It is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2015.
