<p>The main stumbling block, he reports, is finance, which is more challenging in Africa than in Europe.</p>

<p>For starters, the new Terminal 2 will open on May 27, 2026. Meanwhile, over in Terminal 1, they explain that the security screening technology has been upgraded to 3D machines that are quicker and more accurate than the previous x-ray systems.</p>
<p>They also describe how the airport authority analyzes traveler emotions and works to eliminate as many pain points as possible, to improve the passenger experience.</p>

<p>Speaking in the session ‘Expansion of Terminal 1 at Munich Airport,’ Katrin Hennig, vice president of owner representation for large-scale projects, and Jonas Dröge, head of user requirements management T1 Pier, detailed the €650m (US$746m) project, which will add around 96,000m² to the airport’s non-Schengen area.</p>

<p>Vanesa Calvo, head of financing and innovation trends at Aena, presented the framework, which focuses on enhancing the end-to-end passenger journey while integrating new technologies across airport operations.</p>
